What is the transmission system in a forklift?

The function of the forklift transmission system is to transmit the power from the prime mover to the driving wheels, and enable the forklift to move forward or backward at different driving speeds.

There are three transmission modes: mechanical, hydraulic or static pressure.

Forklift transmission route: torque converter, gearbox-(drive shaft)-reducer-differential-half shaft-wheel

Mechanical main clutch used in a counterbalanced forklift

The main clutch is mainly used to couple and temporarily disengage the transmission system from the internal combustion engine.

Stepping on the clutch pedal, the inner end of the separation fork is pressed against the separation sleeve through the mechanism transmission. The separation sleeve drives the separation bearing to temporarily disengage the clutch; after being released, the clutch is combined with the friction plate under the action of the spring. So as to achieve the role of transmission.

Forklift torque converter

The function of the torque converter is automatically adaptable through the hydraulic transmission output. The output torque and speed of the forklift are changed according to the load of the forklift, and it can better absorb and eliminate the impact of the engine and external load on the transmission system vibration.

Hydraulic (mechanical) gearbox

The main role of the gearbox inside a diesel forklift:

Change the transmission ratio between the engine and the drive wheels, thereby changing the traction and driving speed of the forklift, used to adapt to various working conditions; enabling the forklift to travel backwards; cut off the power transmission between the engine and the drive wheels through the shift operation, In this way, when the forklift is stopped for a short time, the engine can be idling without stopping the engine; it is convenient for the engine to start and is conducive to parking safety.

Forkling driving axle

The drive axle is located at the end of the transmission system. It is mainly used to change the size and direction of the torque transmitted by the engine through the torque converter (clutch) gearbox, and to transmit it to the left and right drive wheels through the half shaft.

The drive axle is mainly composed of: the main reducer, the differential, the half shaft and the axle housing, of which the main reducer, the differential, the half shaft, etc. belong to the force transmission mechanism; the axle housing is used to install these mechanisms to bear gravity and other external forces , Belongs to the support mechanism.
